The conflict management perspective may pursue distinct objectives while simultaneously complementing and aligning with the overarching goals of the criminal justice system. This perspective serves as a bridge to crime prevention, a central mission of criminal justice. By clearly defining their respective domains, the two approaches can achieve their objectives harmoniously. In the cases requiring legal formalization, criminal justice principles should take precedence. Conversely, when the underlying interpersonal conflict is more significant than its criminal nature and where conflict management is essential and applicable, the conflict management perspective should be prioritized. Even in cases requiring legal formalization, the conflict management perspective serves a supplementary role by encompassing post-conflict management and prevention, and by actively integrating communicative justice throughout the legal process. By addressing the underlying causes of conflict through effective management, this approach would reduce the undue reliance on the criminal justice system, thereby empowering individuals and communities to resolve conflicts autonomously.
